MORE than a million pounds will be spent on promoting greener ways to travel in North Somerset thanks to a Government grant.
A total of £750,000 will be allocated to North Somerset Council following the success of a bid from the Local Sustainable Transport Fund. The money will then be matched by the council and transport charity Sustrans.
It will be spent on improving bus services from Weston to Bristol and promoting walking, cycling and car sharing.
Weston MP John Penrose welcomed the news and said: “This is excellent news for Weston.
“It complements the £14million Weston Package bid which I’m supporting and it’s a big step in improving travel, reducing congestion, and bringing more jobs to Weston.”
