THE RNLI crew and Weston's Birnbeck Pier will be appearing on the small screen next week.

The BBC 2 series Great British Railway Journeys will be featuring the town on Tuesday at 6.30pm.

Next week the series will show Michael Portillo following a Victorian guide to railways and he will be travelling from Yatton to Weston.

But during filming in Weston back in September, Mr Portillo got a taster of what the RNLI do when they were called to a stranded jet skier.

The television presenter was quickly transferred to another craft so the volunteer crew could get to the skier and save him.
