Centenary party for scouts

CRITICS say scouting has had its day focusing on traditional skills, but in Weston the movement continues to flourish and marked a major milestone last weekend.
Rather than there being a shortage of boys and girls wanting to sign up, it is actually volunteers that are increasingly needed. And scouting’s strength was evident on June 8 when a centenary celebration was held at The Den in Totterdown Road.
Young cubs and scouts met old members and leaders in a nostalgic look back at how scouting has evolved over the past 100 years.
Old photos were submitted in the run up to the event, and dozens of stories shared during the tea party.
