USERS of a community centre say they are shocked and unhappy that a workshop in the ritual uses of Satanism is to start at their meeting place. But leaders of Worle Community Centre say they were told the workshop would simply involve lessons in meditation, rather than exploring occultist rituals.Since the Weston & Somerset Mercury revealed details about the workshop, which studies the ritual uses of Satanism, meditation, witchcraft and tarot, would take place at the Lawrence Road centre, members of other groups using the hall, including a community church, have expressed their disapproval and sent angry letters.Community association chairman Joan Thompson said: "A lot of people are not happy but when the workshop was first booked it was described as lessons in meditation and we didn't see any problem with it."But then posters were put up describing it as an occultist workshop after it was booked in. We never wanted anything like this in the centre."But our constitution dictates we cannot turn away any creed or colour, race or religion, so we can't refuse to allow it."We don't want to upset anyone and it is purely because of the terms of our constitution."For more details on the workshop, which starts on October 2, call organiser Scott Jones on 07880 697613.
