PORTISHEAD'S Parish Wharf Leisure Centre has become the first leisure centre in North Somerset to be awarded Quest status.Quest is a quality assessment that has been developed for the leisure industry and is carried out by a mystery visit then a two-day assessment.During the assessment at the centre, members of staff and customers were interviewed so that a complete picture of the centre was established.The report highlights a number of strengths and examples of good practice and the assessor stated that the centre 'clearly demonstrated a commitment to continuous improvement by achieving a very credible score'.To qualify for the award the centre had to score over 60 per cent, but actually notched up 71 per cent - above the national average.The assessors also said the staff appeared well motivated, the centre was well used and the standard of cleanliness was high.The report also highlighted some areas for future improvements at the centre including improving external signage and creating more strategic partnerships with under represented groups.The centre will continually be assessed to ensure it is still meeting the requirements for the award.
