A PLAQUE was unveiled and the new entrance to Weston General Hospital officially opened.

The old green exterior at the front of the hospital has been replaced with a more modern look.

John Penrose MP, who is president of the League of Friends at the hospital, led the ceremony on July 23.

Nick Wood, chief executive for Weston Area Health NHS Trust, said: “We are very grateful for the generous contribution the league has made to the trust for the renovation of the front entrance.

“Patients and visitors now have a new, modern entrance to enter the hospital. I would like to thank the league for their ongoing commitment to the trust.”

The plaque will keep a running total of the millions of pounds the League of Friends has raised for the hospital, since the 1950s.
