a title-winning bowls club in Burnham has put its prize money towards a good cause.

Burnham Bowls Club, in Stomp Road, won the Weston & District Over-60s Second Division in September after a memorable season, and has made a £400 donation to the Burnham Area Rescue Boat (BARB) charity to mark the success.

Don Bridges, a member of the victorious team, said: “We wanted the money to go to a good local cause and picked BARB because of its wonderful work along the coastline, and during the floods earlier this year.”

A BARB spokesman told the Mercury: “We are very grateful for the club’s support.

“BARB relies on the generosity of local people to keep running, so every penny is very much appreciated.”
