ONE lucky person will be given the chance to turn on Weston's Christmas lights this year through a raffle thought-up by the town mayor.
Councillor Phil Judd is offering this exciting opportunity, organised through the mayor’s charities, at the Christmas Lights Ceremony which takes place at the Italian Gardens on November 25.
Live entertainment begins at 4.45pm and raffle tickets are on sale between 4.30 and 5.30pm.
The town mayor will draw the raffle, with the winner switching on the illuminations at 6.15pm.
A stage will be put up at the Italian Gardens with bands performing and displays by street dance crews from the area.
There will also be childrens’ rides and a bouncy castle in the town square and Father Christmas will be making an appearance.
The lights in the Sovereign Shopping Centre will also be flicked on at 5.30pm by special guest Peppa Pig.
Cllr Judd will be hosting a reception after the festivities at the Blakehay Theatre in Wadham Street, and entertainment will continue in the Italian Gardens until around 9pm.
The town council replaced the Christmas lights last year with new LED lights, which run along High Street, Grove Village, Waterloo Street, Boulevard and Alexandra Parade.
There is late night shopping until 9pm and free parking for vehicles arriving after 3pm every Thursday from November 25 up until Christmas.
