An Oldmixon family who captured the hearts of Weston-super-Mare after appearing on a Channel 5 TV show have said they are ‘amazed’ by the show’s response.
The Williams family appeared on the show Rich House, Poor House last week, which saw them switch homes and lives with the Caddy family, from Clifton in Bristol.
The family of eight normally survive on a £107 weekly budget but were able to experience the life of luxury for one week, with £1,700 spending money.
Antony, aged 29, and his partner Kayleigh, aged 26, enjoyed a £200 Waitrose food shop and a £100 meal out, as well as buying a new pair of football boots for one of their children and a £500 necklace.
One viewer was so touched by the show, they set up a crowd-funding site to raise £2,000 for the Williams family to go on a holiday abroad – the page has now received £2,316 in donations from 124 people in just four days.
Antony told the Mercury: “People have said some lovely things and we are overwhelmed with the response the show has had.
“We were amazed when we found out about the crowd-funding, we are so grateful.
“Thank you so much to everyone for their kind words and support.”
