An optician in Burnham has collected thousands of pairs of glasses to raise money for those in need overseas – but they need more.

The Specsavers store has donated any unwanted glasses from customers to the Vision Aid Overseas programme, which is a charity dedicating to tackling poverty by providing eyecare.

Poor vision and lack of access has left 640 million people in the world ‘disadvantaged’.

The programme raises money by selling the materials from recycled glasses, which is also an environmentally friendly way of raising the funds.

To find out more about the project, or to donate some glasses, visit Specsavers in Burnham High Street.
