EIGHT employees from a Weston company enjoyed a great escape and raised thousands for charity in the process.

Two teams from HomeServe in Sunnyside road took part in the Great Escape Challenge on May 20-22, and raised £2,500 for Marie Curie Cancer Care after enduring a weekend of gruelling cycling and running challenges.

One of the teams completed the 12k run and 27k cycle around Lady Bower Reservoir in the Peak District in 8hours, 12 minutes and 56 seconds, and won the inter-company competed for among the six HomeServe teams.

Team leader Stuart Westcott said: “The experience, the team building, and the fact that we came sixth out of 46 teams was brilliant.”
