Charity cyclists gear up for Paris

A group of 12 cyclists will set off for France from the Grand Pier this Sunday in honour of a Weston mother of two.
Mandy Jones was aged 37 when she lost her battle with melanoma in 2011.
A group of trustees formed the charity 4U Mandy Jones to fulfil her wish to prevent as many people as possible from going through the same ordeal.
This challenge will see the 12 riders cycle 380 miles to The Arc de Triomphe in Paris over a four-day period.
It was the idea of Paul Evans, a friend of Brian, who is Mandy’s widower.
Brian said: “Training commenced six months ago and the team have clocked a fair few miles in all weathers to ensure that they are match fit.
“We are extremely grateful to all of our riders undertaking this epic challenge and businesses who have pledged their support.”
UK melanoma rates have increased more than fivefold since the 1970s.
