CHILDREN’S cancer charity CLIC Sargent has urged people in Somerset to make sure unwanted gifts get a good home by donating them towards its New Year Clear Out campaign.

Among the items already donated is a rare railway clock which was handed in to its Weston store, which sold for £800.

Having already received items as odd as a stuffed eel, a set of false teeth and props from the film Hot Fuzz, the charity is aiming to raise £70,000 through the re-sale of unwanted Christmas presents and donations.

People wanting to help can hand in donations at the charity’s Weston store in Meadow Street up until January 31.
