n FAMILY and friends of Zac Griffiths gathered at a charity dinner to remember him and raise money for The Cardiomyopathy Association.

Zac, from Worle, was diagnosed with heart disease after contracting a virus in 2009 and despite his brave battle he died in March last year, while waiting for a heart transplant.

The 27-year-old’s strong will to never give up then prompted his family and friends to launch an organ donor recruitment appeal.

Family friend Debbie Stone organised the charity night at Hussain’s Indian Restaurant in Orchard Street, Weston, in Zac’s memory and £166 was raised from the raffle and collection tin.

Businesses such as Canine Care by Clare, The Odeon, Bright Hair, The Industry Barbers and Anson’s Barbershop donated prizes for the raffle and £275 was raised by the meal.

Debbie said: “I would like to thank all the people that came and those who donated prizes.”
