Charity shop appeal for high-quality week

PUBLISHED: 17:30 09 May 2012

CHARITY shops will be urging people to donate high quality items next week during a five-day push to improve stock and raise more money.

The Choose Charity Shops campaign, running from Monday, will see shops seeking more and better donations, such as electrical goods and items in good condition.

Charities such as the British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK and Oxfam will all be asking members of the public to dig deep and donate.

Nick Cater, of Somerset Waste Partnership, said: “The campaign will not only add to the millions raised each year through these stores on every high street, but also save resources and energy while cutting waste and diverting items away from costly landfill, which will save money for council taxpayers.”
