A BURNHAM woman is walking Weston Hospicecare's midnight beach walk in memory of her grandparents.

Sarah Thorne of Adam Street signed up to the five-mile walk after a friend showed her a poster at her local slimming club.

The 40-year-old said: “I am walking in memory of my beloved granny and grandad who sadly died a couple of years ago within two weeks of each other.

“I miss them every single day and they are always close to my heart.”

Sarah has been an auxiliary nurse for eight years at Weston General Hospital.

She said: “It never ceases to amaze me how brave my patients can be and the tremendous courage they show.

“I want to do this not only for my grandparents but also for all the patients I have nursed with cancer that have sadly died.

“I am so proud to be doing this walk and I will continue to do it every year to raise funds for the hospice.”

The walk takes place on September 24 from Uphill to Weston Grand Pier and back.
