A FORMER Cheddar resident has been short-listed for a national award.
Zoe Vowles, who lived in the village until she went to university, was up for the Cosmopolitan magazine’s International Angel Award for the selfless work that she has done over in Sierra Leone.
The 32-year-old, who now lives in London when she is in this country, has been using her midwifery training to help women in one of the poorest parts of the world.
She is currently living in the country, working in a remote area without running water or electricity and has spent 2010 carrying out a crucial mission.
The winners were due to be announced at a ceremony in London on Tuesday.
