Cheddar AFC to meet parish council over ground sale

REPRESENTATIVES from Cheddar AFC will be at Cheddar Parish Council tonight to discuss the proposed sale of their football ground to a major supermarket.

Cheddar AFC chairman Steve Bayliss will attend the meeting with a member of Sports Solutions, who are helping to administer the potential move.

They will make a short statement before fielding questions from councillors.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the meeting, which begins at 7pm tonight at Cheddar Parish Hall, Church Street.

The club’s plans to sell their ground to Tesco and move to a new, state-of-the-art facility open to the public if planning permission for a supermarket on the Bowdens Park ground is granted.

Some residents were concerned that the development, if it goes ahead, may create more traffic in the village and hurt local traders.
