There are spooky goings-on at Cheddar Gorge & Caves this month as ghosts and ghouls descend on the village.
Famous and infamous literary figures will come to life and take up residence in Gough’s Cave this Halloween for the special event A Halloween Tale – Mysteries Of The Cave.
Visitors to the gorge are being called upon to unravel the mystery of these strange series of events.
People will be presented with a case file upon their arrival at the Cheddar attraction, which is filled with important clues to help them along the way.
The prehistoric cave has a number of nooks and crannies for the creepy figures to hide in so only those explorers with a keen eye and lightning reflexes will make it out alive.
Dracula, Dorian Gray and Frankenstein’s Monster are hiding just around the corner waiting to jump out and give people the fright of their lives.
This eerie experience is included in the price of a day ticket so you can also enjoy the other attractions Cheddar Gorge & Caves has to offer, including Dreamhunters at Cox’s Cave, Jacob’s Ladder, the cliff-top walk and the Museum of Prehistory.
Explore some of the other new attractions the gorge has to offer during the visit.
Beyond The View gives a unique view to the gorge through a virtual tour with the special addition of old photographs layered over the modern pictures.
People can go from the bottom of the gorge to its highest point in a matter of minutes without leaving their seat.
The escape rooms are also available to try out – put your knowledge to the test and use theory, commonsense and cunning to escape The Vault and work as a team on a pioneering caving expedition in the elusive Pavey’s Cave to escape before being Caved In. However, the escape rooms are not included in the day ticket.
Guests can also go rock climbing or abseiling or take the plunge and free fall into Gough’s Cave down the Black Cat Chamber – climb a 30ft ladder before taking the leap of faith off the edge.
The event will run from October 27 to November 4 and the live actors will be in Gough’s Cave from 11am-3pm, the cave itself will still be open from 10am-5pm.
A day ticket, priced £12.70-19.95, is available at www.cheddargorge.co.uk or on the door.
