Cheddar Gorge has been named the fifth best view in the UK according to the general public.

The gorge boasts views across Somerset, including the Mendips Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

More than 2,500 people were asked to vote for their favourite view in the UK, with the view of lake Llyn Llydaw from the peak of Snowdonia, in Wales, the overall favourite.

The study was commissioned to mark the forthcoming launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S8.

Britain’s reigning Landscape Photographer of the Year Matthew Cattell travelled across the UK with the new phone in hand to take photos of quintessential British scenes.

Marketing director at Samsung Electronics Sam Grant said: “We wanted to mark the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S8 by celebrating the beautiful views in our country of mountains, highlands, beaches and urban skylines which are best enjoyed unconfined.”
