Two Somerset football clubs raised more than £200 for a breast cancer charity.

Draycott and Cheddar Ladies Football Clubs went head to head to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.

The Cheddar team welcomed the opposition to its home ground, in Draycott Road, for a charity football match, disco and raffle which raised £259.

The match kicked off at 7pm on August 26 and it was not long before the first goal was scored by Cheddar striker Valerie Walsh.

The Draycott girls made a number of attempts at goals but the Cheddar side were able to keep a clean score sheet, winning the game 8-0.

The Draycott team was made up of the wives and girlfriends of the men’s team and well-known members of the Cheddar community who wanted to show their support.

Sue Gulliver became a fan favourite as Draycott’s goalkeeper; she had never played the sport in her life but was still able to make a number of saves.
