People in Cheddar were treated to a lesson in life-saving on September 20.

Villagers were invited to learn how to use a defibrillator and give CPR.

The event was organised by the Cheddar Vale Lions, which has paid for a new 24/7 defibrillator at the Riverside Inn in The Cliffs.

Lions president Janet Clark told the Mercury: “The main message was not to be afraid – have a go. If you don’t, then the patient will die, so you need to do your best.”

The Lions is now fundraising to buy and install another defibrillator at the bottom of Cheddar Gorge to help save more lives.
