A parish council has presented three special awards to people who have gone above and beyond for the village.

Cheddar Parish Council held its annual meeting in Hannah More Cottage, in Lower North Street, to discuss hot village topics and hand out its annual Community Service Awards.

The first recipient, Grahame Burnell, was rewarded for 50 years of dedication to Cheddar Scouts.

Anne Higgs was nominated for her work with Cheddar Valley Music Club, which she founded in 1979.

The council presented the final award to a business for the first time. Adrian and Estelle Cobb, of Cobbs Butchers in Union Street, were given the village improvement award after taking over a run-down shop and creating a much-needed village butchers.
