Sedgemoor District Council has announced its annual budget.

A district council has pledged thousands of pounds to renovate a play area in Cheddar.

Draycott Road has a small park which needs a makeover and Sedgemoor District Council has announced plans to contribute £19,000 towards the work.

The area will be closed for three weeks while work commences to bring new life to the tired park.

A new triple swing, including seats for all ages, will be installed alongside a climbing net, see-saw, whale rocker, play panels, climbing frame and two new benches.

The work will also include new surfacing around the equipment to make the play area safer and family-friendly.

Sedgemoor’s Clean Surroundings team will be creating a second access point to enable better access to the park and improve safety.

A council spokesman said: “The project is being funded by Sedgemoor’s parks development budget and developer contributions.”
