A PRIEST from Cheddar will be swapping the pulpit for the stage this Friday when he performs as part of a musical for charity.

Father Tibor Szende will be joined by clergymen from around the world to take part in the Clergy Revue show in Bristol.

The entire cast will be priests who will be singing and dancing to a medley of classics such as We Will Rock You and Hey Jude.

The performance will raise money for Catholic charity CAFOD.

Fr Szende is a priest at Our Lady Queen of Apostles in Tweentown as well as Burnham Parish church.

He said: “It is the first time I have done anything like this but people have been very supportive and we have sold a lot of tickets.”

Tickets are priced £10 and money raised will go to the charity.

CAFOD is the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development.

It is currently raising money for drought in East Africa, having raising more than £4 million so far.

CAFOD’s manager for Bristol Tony Vassallo said: “It may sound like something out of Father Ted but The Clergy Revue is always a terrific night out, with lots of surprises.

“The Clergy Revue has played in Bristol twice before to capacity audiences and received rave reviews.

“People can enjoy themselves while raising funds for CAFOD at a time when we are doing really vital work in communities desperately in need in East Africa.

“We’re very grateful to all the clergy who are giving their valuable time and energy.”

The Clergy Revue will perform at the Colston Hall, Bristol, on Friday, September 30.
