Two students from the Kings Of Wessex Academy got up close and personal with some hedgehogs.

Sam Hunt and George Roberts paid a visit to Prickles Hedgehog Rescue, at the Wessex Business Centre, as part of the Cheddar school’s building community links programme.

The charity is run by volunteers and takes in injured and unwell hogs from across Avon and Somerset.

The duo learned how the charity looks after the critters, clean and change their bedding and get them back to full health before releasing them into the wild.

A school spokesman said: “Sam and George really enjoyed their visit and the opportunity to help with the hedgehogs and learn more about these prickly creatures who are often found hiding in the garden.”

Prickles rely on donations in order to operate.
