YOUNGSTERS at a Backwell School are turning a brighter shade of green this week.
Fairfield School is celebrating its environmental awareness week and children will be learning about composting food, recycling waste and building an environmentally friendly home.
Children from nursery and reception classes at the school, in Fairfield Way, spent the day creeping and crawling around the classroom to find out what it is like for insects in a compost bin.
Pupils in year one and two enjoyed making fridge magnets out of tin cans to learn the value of reusing items and the week will come to a close with the grand unveiling of a mural which pupils have made out of recycled objects.
