PUPILS at Bournville Primary School learned about healthy breakfasts last week as part of their Berries for Breakfast challenge.

The school’s breakfast club served fresh blueberry smoothies, pancakes with mixed berries and natural yoghurt for children and parents.

One staff member even dressed as a berry for the morning.

The challenge was run by XTND Improving Futures, a charity which supports the South Ward community.

It was part of a week of activities learning about different types of berries in order to teach children about healthier eating.

The breakfast gave pupils the chance to try fruits they had never had before, according to a school spokesman, with one year five pupil describing it as ‘the best breakfast I have ever had!’.

A school spokesman said: “The challenge was such a success and feedback from children, parents and staff was so positive that the school have decided to run something similar every term.”
