WESTON families are being invited to have their say about a new children's centre due to open in the town.A meeting will be held at Barcode youth cafe on South Parade to give families the opportunity to give their views on what services the new centre, in Meadow Street, should provide.Representative's from North Somerset Council's community development team, Barnardos, Job Centre Plus and agencies that provide services in central Weston will be on hand to show what is available in other centres in the area.The Central Weston Children's Centre is one of 11 planned for North Somerset.Three others, at Ashcombe Primary School in Weston, Crockerne Primary School in Pill and the South West Children's Centre have already been opened and a further seven are due to be open by March 2008.Each centre varies according to the needs of the area, but all aim to offer early learning, childcare, child and family health services, parental outreach, family support services, childminder support, links with employment services, education and training and an information and advice point. The Weston centre is being converted from a former fruit and vegetable shop and is due to open in the autumn.The event, which will include children's activities, refreshments and a free prize draw, will be held on July 13 from 10am-1pm.
