CHILDREN from young carers support groups in North Somerset were given an unexpected Christmas treat thanks to the sky-diving efforts of a senior group worker.

Karen Hynds, who works for the Young Carers Service, took part in a 15,000ft sky dive in October to raise more than £1,000 to give the children a break from their caring responsibilities and an evening out bowling.

She said: “Seeing all the children laughing and having a great time has made the total terror worthwhile.

“They are a really special group of caring children and it is wonderful to be able to give them a break from their responsibilities at Christmas.”
