TWO school pupils from North Somerset have been celebrating after beating 340 other children in a Christmas card competition.

Hannah Williams, from Christ Church Primary School in Weston, and Luke Pincombe, from Kewstoke Primary School, entered the competition put on by Weston's MP John Penrose.

Hannah, who entered the Key Stage Two category for children aged between seven and 11, was the overall winner with her design of Weston's Grand Pier and lollipops, and Luke's card won the Key Stage One class for children aged four to seven.

Both will be treated to a tour round the Houses of Parliament with their families next year, but they can currently take pride in seeing their designs printed on the front of 500 cards.

Entries from eight other children were highly commended and their pictures will be printed on the back of the cards.

They were Samantha Partington from Bournville Junior School, Tabatha Changeur from Westhaven Special School, Bethaney Hall, from Heron's Moor Primary School,

Georgina Morgan, from Becket Primary School, Brennan James Brown, from St. Martins Junior School, in Weston, Holly Cadman from Blagdon Primary School, Marilla Willmot from Winscombe Woodborough Primary School, and Joe Murphy, from Mead Vale Primary School in Worle.
