Man charged with town centre 'murder'

Police have charged a man with murder after a woman died over the weekend.

Christopher Harris, aged 35, is accused of killing Laura Biss, whose body was found on the ground in Highbridge on Saturday morning.

An Avon and Somerset Constabulary spokesman said: “Christopher Harris, of no fixed address, has been charged with the murder of 34-year-old Laura Biss, whose body was found on the B3139 Burnham Road in the early hours of Saturday.

“He’s also been charged with death by dangerous driving.

“Laura was formally identified earlier today.”

Police began a public appeal for information on Saturday after an apparent hit-and-run crash.

And the force arrested Harris yesterday ahead of charging him this evening (Monday).

Harris has been remanded in custody and will appear at Taunton Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Tuesday).
