MORE than £500 was raised by generous guests at a village church fete.

St Barnabas Church, in Jasmine Lane, Claverham, opened its doors to host the event despite the weather putting a dampener on things.

Church warden Valerie Horsley said: “We had to hold the fete indoors, which wasn’t ideal, but it went very well and everyone enjoyed themselves.

“We raised £512 for church funds.”
