A NEW extension to the parish church of Weston has caused controversy for local historians who say the building is not in keeping with the original features.

But the parish church council does not agree and is defending the building. Historian Brian Austin and Somerset Road resident John Hughes say the new look church centre at St John's the Baptist Church on Lower Church Road has ruined the look of Weston's oldest church.
