THOUSANDS of cider lovers gathered in Sandford to celebrate Somerset's most famous beverage.
Thatchers Cider Company held a family open day at Myrtle Farm at the weekend, to show visitors how the popular drink is made.
There were guided tours of the orchards and factory, as well as an opportunity to talk to the cider makers about all the different apple varieties. About 3,000 visitors had a go at apple-pressing and after their efforts could try the different ciders.
Manager, Martin Thatcher, said: “It was an amazing day. There was a great atmosphere, with many of our guests enjoying themselves so much they stayed all day.
“We are delighted that so many people of all ages are interested to come and see what we are doing here at Myrtle Farm. I’d like to thank everyone who gave up their Saturday to come and support us.”
