COURAGEOUS men dressed in Cinderella-style ball gowns and abseiled down a quarry to support a struggling charity event.

Wearing helmets accessorised with fluffy bunny ears and fake flowing locks, they took on the challenge to raise awareness of Weston Hospicecare’s (Not The) Midnight Beach Walk.

The charity has seen a 74 per cent drop in registrations for its biggest annual event, which organisers say the hospice relies heavily on to fund its vital services.

Gill Auden, Weston Hospicecare’s CEO, said: “This event usually raises £60,000 for us and it’s a real worry that we might not reach that figure this year.”

Not The Midnight Beach Walk has an earlier start time of 6.30pm instead of its usual midnight launch, because of unfavourable tide times, and also boasts a 5k and 10k route along the beach from Uphill to Weston and back. To register for the walk, visit www.westonhospicecaregroup.org.uk or call 01934 423900.
