THE teenager who pleaded guilty to stealing food and deliberately setting fire to Clarence Park café will appear for sentencing at Bristol Crown Court today.

Nathan Cross, aged 18, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to arson and burglary of the café on Walliscote Road between August 26 and August 30.

Prosecutor Gemma Kneebone told North Somerset Courthouse: “The defendant said he had been out drinking with friends, was hungry and broke into the café. He then used his lighter to set the place on fire to remove any evidence.”

Fire officials confirmed five fires had been set in the café and were put out when the flames melted a plastic water pipe which ran around the ceiling.
