Seven caravans moved into Clarence Park yesterday afternoon (Tuesday), and the local authority has already told them to leave.

North Somerset Council has asked the group to vacate the park today, but may have to pursue a court order if the travellers fail to comply.

Travellers have occupied Weston’s Ashcombe Park and Beach Lawns already this summer, with the council forced to go to court on both occasions to evict the groups.

A council spokesman said: “We visited yesterday to complete our health and welfare checks. There were seven caravans.

“We are about to serve notice on them to leave the park by 5pm today.”
