A motorcyclist has suffered life-changing injuries after crashing with a car on the A370 this morning (Monday).

The man was transported to Southmead Hospital, in Bristol, after colliding with a car near the Lord Nelson pub in Cleeve at around 7am.

Two rapid-response vehicles and one ambulance attended the scene, according to a South Western Ambulance Service spokesman.

The road was blocked for several hours, with queues tailing back to Congresbury, before finally reopening late in the morning.

It is understood the driver of the car did not sustain any injuries.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary said it was called to the incident shortly after 7am.

A spokesman added: “This was a collision between a car and a motorcycle and was near to the Lord Nelson public house and Holy Trinity Church.

“The motorcyclist was taken to Southmead Hospital with life-changing leg and back injuries.”
