CLEVEDON Town Council agreed to reduce its precept to £147,000 for 2008/2009, 22.5 per cent less than last year's figure.
Councillors have cut internal expenditure and released money not used from the council's reserves to reduce the amount residents will have to pay for the council's services by £43,000.
The council had money set aside for a number of projects which did not go ahead, which it will now be able to use in the next financial year.
At its meeting on January 9, the town council stressed the services residents receive will not be cut as a result, but the savings were down to prudent management of resources.
