RESCUE teams were called to Cheddar Gorge this week when a woman suffered heart problems on top of a cliff. Fire services were called at 1.45pm on Monday (Oct 30) to rescue the woman from the French Pinnacle at Cheddar Gorge. Chief rescue officer Duncan Massey said: "The rescue operation went really well. We kept the casualty warm and she remained conscious."Paramedics treated the 47-year-old woman on the cliff top and then lowered her 400 feet to the ground. She had been visiting Cheddar Gorge with her family from Trowbridge in Wiltshire.The woman was rescued by Somerset Fire and Rescue Service and Avon and Somerset Cliff Rescue Team.
