Man arrested after baby left in hospital with serious head injuries

A man has been arrested after a baby boy was left in hospital with serious head injuries following an incident in Weston-super-Mare.

The infant was hospitalised after suffering the injuries at a house in Clifton Road on July 25.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary confirmed a 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and bailed pending further enquiries.

A spokesman added: “We’re carrying out an investigation after a baby suffered serious head injuries.

“The baby remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.”
