TWO people were rescued from Cheddar Gorge after they became trapped.

Emergency services were called to the village on Sunday at 3pm following reports that two climbers were trapped 200ft up the gorge.

Avon and Somerset Cliff Rescue team and firefighters worked to free the man and woman, who were brought to safety at just after 6.40pm.

They were uninjured but were checked by paramedics as a precaution.
