A BURNHAM club has confirmed it could soon be introducing a new system where clubbers have their fingerprints scanned rather than showing ID.The scheme works by getting clubbers to provide a few personal details, such as their name, address and proof of age as well as a fingerprint.Their details will then be added to a database which can be accessed by other clubs and bars in the area. The next time the clubber visits the venue they do not need to take ID, but can just have their thumb print scanned and walk straight in.The fingerprint recognition system is being introduced at venues in Weston later this year and if it goes down well with clubbers, Shakers, in High Street, Burnham, will also invest in the scheme.Cam Mu is a director of Shakers. He and his brother Kiem also own venues in Weston and Bristol.Cam Mu said: "People always get asked for ID and it's tiring for them. It will also stop people losing their passports and driving licences. But it's not compulsory. "People can turn up to the club, fill in their details and prove their age, then that's it. Once you're registered you don't need to carry round your ID. The system will be tried and tested at Vision in Weston first. It is hoped the new scheme will help to tackle crime. Any troublemakers will be highlighted on the database so club owners can refuse entry and warn other venues.
