A CHILDREN’S dance group, which was threatened with closure last year, has received a £2,000 donation from a community fund.

Weston-based Move It Shakers is used by about 60 children aged five to 14 but was threatened with closure when Barnardo’s pulled out of running it when North Somerset Council stopped providing additional funding.

But thanks to the work of volunteers behind the scenes, and this week’s £2,000 donation from the Co-operative Membership Community Fund, the group has continued to thrive.

A spokesman for the Britannia Co-op said the firm was happy to step into the breach to help such a valued organisation.
