Weston-super-Mare Coastguard Rescue Team was called to reports of a paddleboarder in difficulty yesterday (Thursday).

Weston RNLI was also called to the incident at the water sports section of the beach where a paddleboarder was believed to be struggling on the incoming tide.

However, on arrival the crews found the person was making their own way back to shore so stood down.

During the same evening the coastguard attended calls of a number of people in difficulty in mud at Sand Bay.

Following a search of the area a group of three people were found walking along the Toll Road who confirmed they had been on the beach.

A safety briefing was carried out and the crew stood down.
