Weston-super-Mare and Burnham-on-Sea coastguards were called out to an injured woman in the early hours of yesterday morning (Sunday).

The ambulance service required assistance as a lady in her 20s suffered a suspected broken ankle at Sand Point in Weston at around 2am.

A Rescue 187 Coastguard helicopter was called to the scene, due to the steep terrain, before it landed on Weston’s seafront lawns.

An ambulance then took the casualty to Weston General Hospital.
