Burnham-on-Sea's BARB Search and Rescue charity was on hand to rescue a dog who got stuck in the mud on the beach.
Oakley, the cocker spaniel, ran off into the mud at low tide on Stolford beach near Burnham.
Watchet coastguard asked for BARB’s help due to the difficult location of the dog.
A spokesman for BARB said: “The cocker spaniel had run off and got stuck but fortunately got out safely and the teams were stood down,
“There was concern that the dog owner may put themselves in danger by venturing out into the mud to try and recover the animal.
“BARB is always on-call and available to help when there is concern that someone may be in difficulty or at risk along our coastline. Always call 999 and ask for the Coastguard if you have concerns.”
