WESTON College this week unveiled a new tribute to a famous former student.

One-time head girl of Broadoak Sixth Form, TV presenter Jill Dando, was honoured during a special assembly of 250-plus students at the new University Campus on Tuesday.

Jill's brother Nigel spoke at the memorial gathering, before helping to unveil a framed photograph and biography of Jill, who died in 1999.

The college planned the tribute as a lasting memorial to Jill, who principal Dr Paul Phillips said "continues to be an inspirational role model for the young people of Weston".

The college's new campus has been built on the site of the old sixth form in Loxton Road.
