The Friends of Grove Park hosted its first-ever community event at the weekend.

The group organised a community picnic in the park, which is at the end of Weston-super-Mare’s High Street, on Saturday.

The event saw outdoor fun entertainment, including circus skills and people enjoyed cakes donated by Loves Café.

The group’s chair Johnny Boxshall said: “Seeing people coming to hang out in the park and make new friends was a massive support for the idea of community.

“If people keep coming along and, better yet, come forward to join us in taking care of this wonderful asset, then we can work together to make Grove Park a safe, welcoming and all-inclusive green hub for generations to come.”
